Two

Moved to Ottawa, got married and working as a lab technician in a government research lab.

Two souls, two indivisible souls
Running to catch life
across the Rockies, over the prairies
to the Industrial east
Leaving a mothy university and strangling parents
to catch a train running
running, running
Living from suitcases, getting married
somewhere in a register’s office
Packing a suitcase and going to Montreal
Ottawa
Sometimes working, sometimes starving, sometimes happy
But always running to meet life.

Two souls, two companion-souls
The sidewalks we’re plodding in the grey dawn
extend to infinity.

Two souls, two indivisible souls
Life what have you to offer?
The buses run east and west
And we take the ones that never return.
