Grey skies over Dunedin
The beginning of the May holidays
S-S, in bed with her dreams
Of an Indian restaurant.
10,000 miles away
A son in search of an image of himself
At Hyde St.
A dream-daughter looking after her boyfriend-pet.
At work lab books to mark
Papers to be written
Where among all this is the poet?
The wind stirs the cobwebs of my mind
As I walk to Bracken point, passed
Souls safe in their graves.
The question deepens
Where does the song of songbirds go
When the rains come?
Where do the dreams of dreamers go
When the morning comes?
Where in all this is the poet?
